Pierre Bergeron - First Evangelical Commandant for the Canadian Forces Chaplain School and Centre

June 24 marked turning point for the Canadian Forces Chaplain School and Centre (CFChSC). It was during and Change of Command parade that Lieutenant-Colonel Pierre Bergeron became the first member of an Evangelical faith group to be appointed Commandant. The Presiding Officer was the CFB Borden Commander, Colonel Meloche, and the prayer of blessing was pronounced by Rev Stewart Hunter (previous Superintendent of the Eastern Ontario and Quebec District).
Lcol Guèvremont and Lcol Bergeron sign the Change of Appointment certificate signifiying the change of appointment of the Commandant for the ChaplainSchool and Centre, witnessed by the Reviewing Officer, Col Meloche.
In his acceptance speech, Lieutenant-Colonel Bergeron stated that CFChSC had the privilege of not only sharpening the skills and talents of Chaplains but also stimulate their spiritual growth and contribute to the development of their character.
The CFChSC trains approximately 420 candidates per year and the courses offered are the following:
a) Basic military and Occupation Qualification
c) Pastoral Counselling
d) Chaplains in a Pluralistic Environment
e) Intermediate and Advance Chaplain
f) Chaplains in Deployed Operations
g) Chapel Life Coordinator
