We want to remind you that ERDO is the best means for our churches to help our missionairies Michel and Louise Charbonneau and to bring help to Haiti.
But what is ERDO really about?
ERDO (Emergency Relief and Development Oversees) is responding as the humanitarian agency of the PAOC with practical help for the victims. Last night January 20th an Emergency Medical Response team arrived together with a truckload of food, water, gas and medical supplies. They will be working the Charbonneaus to treat the many wounded who are in the ‘tent city’ just outside the Ministry Centre. ERDO is now planning for major food relief response through the Canadian Food Grains Bank and other relief aid in partnership with Canadian Churches in Action. We are focusing on the many thousands living in the tent cities that straddle the border of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

ERDO works year around in 4 major areas:
ChildCARE Plus
Monthly child sponsorship provides education, food, and healthcare plus spiritual nurture. Beginning in 1992, now over 6,000 children in 28 countries receive a hope and a future, including some 370 in Haiti.
Food Relief
Food aid and agricultural recovery, in partnership with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. ERDO has life-saving projects in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Liberia, Sudan, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Through community projects, ERDO volunteers help produce an annual harvest for the hungry.
Development
Community building through economic development, clean water and sustainable agriculture.
Assisting with water projects (Zambia, Guatemala, Next Generation ‘Life’ Project), and in the rehabilitative phases of disaster response and food relief.
Developing best practices with the CCRDA (Canadian Christian Relief & Development Association) and the Micah Network.
Crisis Response
Emergency aid, disaster mitigation and return to livelihood projects.
ERDO has responded to needs for emergency assistance in places like DR Congo, Kenya, India, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, Burma and China.
Remember that every dollar given will be matched by the Canadian government until February 12th, 2010.
